| It's not every year I get to spend New Year's Eve in a big city. I knew it would be super crowded, but I decided to take my chances just to see how Bangkok countdowns to the New Year.
Guess who came to visit me?! Shannon & Terry! Besides eating and shopping we took a daytrip to Ayutthaya, Thailand's old capital.
Getting ready to bike around and see all the temples and wats.
Next day, Shannon and I decided to treat ourselves to a cabaret show. We got front row tickets! Even though the pictures make the ladyboys look really good, in person the manly features were still obvious. Although, there was one exceptionally beautiful ladyboy, hard to imagine she was ever a he.
Too bad their visit was too short to join me in Phuket for my 26th birthday! Hiking down to Promthep Cape, the very tip of Phuket. Next day, we took a tour to James Bond Island as well other sights along the way. I don't know if I would go on a tour again. I think it's more worth it to rent a speedboat and do things on your own timing. Also, I was getting sea sick and decided to take the dromamine pills they were handing out, which knocked me out and made my drowsy all day.
The best part was laying out at the beach, sipping on some coconut juice, and eating Thai food bought from the carts. Andrea is so goofy!
A very chill birthday, but I got to spend it in Thailand =) Until my next adventure...buh bye!

| Thailand - Month Two
Work: meet the Elite staff
Bangkok at night....on the 64th floor of State Tower

One weekend I went to Kanchanaburi. It's about a 2 hour drive from Bangkok. A great retreat from the noisy, polluted, crowded city. First activity - elephant trekking.
The Burmese tour guide let me ride on the elephant. It was soo cool! Next we "rafted" down the River Kwae. Actually, a motorboat pulled us upstream and then our guide paddled the raft down the river. What a strong women. It was quite relaxing...

Then back to the camp to watch the elephant show. They needed a volunteer....
I'm gonna get squished!!!!! Actually they were trying to show how gentle the elephant can be, but that guy has balls to take that risk!
Feeding the elephant; they like bananas, turnip/daikon, and milk! My hand got slobbered all over. Then we saw some monkeys on the side of the road on the way back.
The Death Railway in Kanchanaburi. The town was home to a Japanese-run POW camp, where 100,000 POW from Britain, Austrailia, the Netherlands, New Zealand and America died as a result of the hard labor, tortore, and starvation to build the railway.
The highlight of the weekend: Erawan Waterfall. Those of you who know me or have gone on a hike with me, know that I love hiking to waterfalls! This waterfall isamazing because it's 7-tiered and as you hike up to the next one, it gets better and better!
1st tier
2nd tier 3rd tier
A little more work to get to the 4th tier
4th tier
5th tier
6th tier
About 2 hours later....the end...just kidding!
the final 7th tier! It's amazing! I didn't even expect it to be this high! It was actually too cold for me to swim at this tier so...
I went back down to the 4th tier to swim. It was a great weekend! That's all for now, until the next adventure...

| Sawatdeekha! What's life in Thailand like? Here are some pictures so you have a better idea.
Meet the family....
Deedee, Jojo, Papa, Mama, Jammy, and me!
On a motorcycle, the helmet is too big for me. I'm on my way to work, waiting at the intersection. Sometimes you wait as long as 3 minutes at an intersection.
Meeting Jammy's friends at Jet club. Jammy and Jojo
Coconut ice cream....mmmmm...so good on those hot humid days...
Roti - it's a dessert here, fried and topped with condensed milk and sugar. So fatty, but so good!
Eating some more...
My first haircut in Thailand. Everyone thinks I'm Japanese now
There's a buddhist holiday where 10 days out of the year the Thai people fast meat and "make merit". During that time, a bunch of street carts/vendors put up yellow flags on their stand to show that they serve vegetarian food.
After 6 weeks of Thai classes, training, and work I was ready for a much needed break in Pattaya
Minky Jit Jammy's friend, Jit , generously let us stay at her nice house (I felt like I was at a mini resort). We went to the seafood market, bought some scallops, crab, shrimp, and oysters (all fresh!) and put it on the grill. It was sooo good, they make this amazing seafood dipping sauce that you eat with everything.
Next destination.... Restaurants along the beach Fireshow at a restaurant we ate at
Goodbye beach...it's back to work

| 2008 has started off with a blast! And it keeps coming! There aren't too many times in my life where good things keep happening. First off, I decided that I wanted to go out and party for New Year's Eve versus going to a house party or staying home. Got a fun, random group to go out. What a way to ring in the new year.
 Mecca New Year's Eve 2008
The Girls: me, Elsa, Jeesung, Grace & Dorothy
The guys: Terrence, Paul, & Ted
 Balloon Drop
 Happy New Year!!!
Next was turning a quarter century old with Grace and Connie! Dinner for 40 at Thai Basil and then some dancing.

Thanks to Sampson, we got hooked up with a VIP room on the thirdfloor of Abyss Nightclub. And to add some pizazz to the night, it just also happen to be gay night.

Thanks to our photographers: Terrence and Bruce for capturing the night for us.

Time to make a birthday wish!

Thanks to all our friends who came out. I feel sooo blessed to be able to celebrate with you guys!

The partying didn't stop there. I literally got to celebrate my birthday for a whole week non-stop. I have some awesome friends. I was living it up with some pizza, beer, steak, prime rib/ribs, French food....and a visit from my girlfriends from So Cal!

First attempt to do an ancestor pose at Japanese Tea Garden in Golden Gate Park
Success!
Goofing around
Dave: I want to play with the squirrels. Me: Dave, do you have any nuts? Dave: No, I don't. Me and Jenn: Hehehe
Bday dinner at Mandalay. Then we waited 30 minutes in line at Mitchell's Ice Cream. Some pretty good ice cream. Can you guess which ones are the real couple?
If you guessed all the weird ones, you are correct. Hahaha! Anyhow, one more thing to get excited about. I'm going to Thailand for a year! More details later.
